Republikanische Präsidentschaftskandidaten

Und ich dachte schon, nach George W. könnte es kaum noch schlimmer kommen. Bei einer der Vorausscheidungen zur Kürung des republikanischen Präsidentschaftskandidaten kam bedenkliches zu Tage (Meinen die das wirklich ernst?!):

Mitt Romney (RMA): Some people have said we have to close Guantanamo … My view is: We have to double Guantanamo!

Tom Tancredo (R-CO): When wo go under, western civilization goes under.

Nur die Spitze des Eisbergs

What we need to realize is that the infamous “Bush bubble,” the administration’s no-reality zone, extends a long way beyond the White House. Millions of Americans believe that patriotic torturers are keeping us safe, that there’s a vast Islamic axis of evil, that victory in Iraq is just around the corner, that Bush appointees are doing a heckuva job — and that news reports contradicting these beliefs reflect liberal media bias.

Die Kandidaten scheinen Abbild einer grossen Gefolgschaft zu sein. Traurig, aber wohl wahr.

Nebenbei bemerkt: Der Mythos „linke Medien“ scheint auch in Übersee ein Totschläger-Argument gegen die politische Berichterstattung zu sein. Wie klein die Welt doch ist!
