Völlig Risikoscheu
our goal in most aspects of life is to increasingly and arbitrarily discard the risky—and therefore often unsuccessful—paths in our work and to pay attention only to the provably-successful paths. By my observation, this practice is increasingly common in all facets of Western life. In short, risk is quite systematically and perhaps literally being bred out of our intellectual arsenal.

Wieso diese Risiko-Aversion so schlecht ist? Reist man nach Afrika, China oder Indien, realisiert man äusserst rasch, wie hart dort der Wettbewerb zwischen den einzelnen Menschen spielt. Mit unserer Risiko-Aversion und unserem Sicherheitswahn sind wir Westler kaum mehr auf die Realität im angebrochenen 21. Jahrhundert vorbereitet. Dieses Jahrhundert gehört den Abermillionen, deren Länder sich gerade industrialisieren — und die täglich, von Kindesbeinen an um ihr Überleben und das wirtschaftliche Wohlergehen kämpfen müssen. Sie sind trainiert, Risiken einzugehen und erachten dies als selbstverständlich — denn bei 999'999'999+ Landsleuten um einen herum realisiert man rasch, dass man völlig entbehrlich ist. Packe ich etwas an, gibt es garantiert jemand anderes, der es zumindest versuchen wird. Abgesehen davon ist man in solchen Regionen tatsächlich weniger "wertvoll" — schliesslich haben die Eltern nicht hunderttausende Franken in die Ausbildung und Gesundheit ihrer Zöglinge investiert. Eine Investition, die es um jeden Preis vor Schaden zu schützen gilt.

Wann fluten die Chinesen den Dollarmarkt?

Auf den Schultern von Chinesen
We all know that there's no fucking way in the world we should have microwave ovens and refrigerators and TV sets and everything else at the prices we're paying for them. There's no way we get all this stuff and everything is done fair and square and everyone gets treated right. No way. And don't be confused -- what we're talking about here is our way of life. Our standard of living. You want to "fix things in China," well, it's gonna cost you. Because everything you own, it's all done on the backs of millions of poor people whose lives are so awful you can't even begin to imagine them, people who will do anything to get a life that is a tiny bit better than the shitty one they were born into, people who get exploited and treated like shit and, in the worst of all cases, pay with their lives.

Mit dem Geld und dem Tempo, mit welchem die Chinesen für 445 Kilometer Autobahnen bauen, sehen wir Eidgenossen äusserst blass aus.
Das Hilfsmittel Geld sitzt bei den Chinesen recht locker, da sie der grösste Kreditgeber der USA sind und diese vom Wertzerfall geprägten US-Dollars so rasch als möglich aus ihrem ungefähr hundert Etagen tiefen Keller auf den Markt werfen möchten. Lieber eine physische Gegenleistungen statt grünes Toilettenpapier.
Es handelt sich hierbei meine persönlich zusammengereimte Erklärung, falls ein VWLer eine andere Sichtweise hält, soll er dies mit der Kommentarfunktion kundtun.
Wie viel wohl diese 445 Kilometer gekostet haben? Die Westumfahrung Zürich (25km) wurde für läppische 4 Milliarden Franken hingeknallt. Natürlich muss man aber beachten, dass die Hälfte davon Tunnels waren. Die Chinesen werden es sich diesbezüglich einfach gemacht haben: Auf Grund der Landreserven und billigen Arbeitskräfte (es geht zudem ja auch um ein Stimulus-Programm!) baut man die Autobahn lieber um den Hügel herum als hindurch.
Bezüglich dem Tempo wiederum bin ich froh, dass hier noch nicht ganz chinesische Umstände herrschen. Umweltschutz? Fremdwort. Arbeiterschutz? Fremdwort. Amtliche Bewilligungsverfahren? Der Parteiapparat befiehlt. Auch muss man sich Fragen, ob die Chinesen die Autobahnen von westlichen Ingenieuren bauen lassen, oder ob die Schnellstrassen in wenigen Jahren totalsaniert werden müssen ...

Selbstverständlich möchte ich dieser Branche keine Rückständigkeit vorwerfen, doch hätte man nicht mit Blick auf die IT- und Medien-Industrie realisieren müssen, dass es nur eine Frage der Zeit ist, bis auch der angeblich "perfekte" Kopierschutz ausgehebelt wird? Gerade die Chinesen, die man zu den Meistern der Fälscher zählen kann, wird ein solch doofer Chip wohl kaum abschrecken.
Fazit: Ausser Spesen nichts gewesen.

Das Hakenkreuz rettete auch Leben
Im Augenblick der Verzweiflung kommt ihm plötzlich die rettende Idee. Rabe, seit Jahren Mitglied der NSDAP, lässt eilends eine riesige Hakenkreuzfahne, die ihm die Partei nach China geschickt hat, entfalten. Zusammen mit zahllosen Einheimischen kauert er sich unter das Tuch. Und tatsächlich: Die mit Deutschland verbündeten Japaner stellen den Angriff ein.

Kreditor China mit Ratschlag an die USA
People, especially Americans, started believing that they can live on other people’s money. And more and more so. First other people’s money in your own country. And then the savings rate comes down, and you start living on other people’s money from outside. At first it was the Japanese. Now the Chinese and the Middle Easterners.
We—the Chinese, the Middle Easterners, the Japanese—we can see this too. Okay, we’d love to support you guys—if it’s sustainable. But if it’s not, why should we be doing this? After we are gone, you cannot just go to the moon to get more money. So, forget it. Let’s change the way of living. [By which he meant: less debt, lower rewards for financial wizardry, more attention to the “real economy,” etc.]

Der Erdölverbrauch steigt ... und steigt
[USA:] Der Bedarf ist demnach im Schnitt um 800.000 Barrel pro Tag im Vergleich zum Vorjahreszeitraum zurückgegangen.
Gleichzeitig sei aber der Treibstoff-Verbrauch in Schwellenländern um 1,3 Millionen Barrel pro Tag gestiegen. Dadurch habe der weltweite Ölverbrauch im ersten Halbjahr um 500.000 Fässer pro Tag zugenommen, hieß es weiter.

Das nennt man dann wohl "outpriced by the market": Die Amis können sich den teuren Treibstoff nicht mehr leisten. Ein komisches Gefühl für die letzte verbliebene Supermacht auf diesem Planeten, nicht wahr?
Gleichzeitig füllt die neue Mittelklasse der BRIC-Staaten das so entstandene Vakuum schnurstracks wieder - und noch mehr, wie die Ausdehnung des Verbrauchs um 500'000 Barrels (pro Tag!) zeigt.
Wenn die Chinesen mit dem Autofahren so durchstarten wie mit dem Internet (China hat mittlerweile mehr Internetnutzer als die bisherige Nummer 1, die USA), führt man in den USA bald wieder Pferdekutschen ein. Denn China bezahlt das Erdöl mit den Dollarnoten, die es in den letzten Jahrzehnten aus den USA als Tausch für "Plastic-Salatschleudern" und andere nutzlose Konsumprodukte erhalten hat, während die USA mittlerweile kurz vor dem Bankrott stehen.

Wann wird der Transport wieder teurer als die Produktion?

Ist ja logisch - ein wenig in Excel herumklicken, "Dissle", Web-Anwendungen programmieren oder SAP aufsetzen ist halt einfach weniger energieintensiv als Stahl zu schmelzen, Plastic-Spielzeuge, Salatschleudern und Kleidung herzustellen (von der Umweltverschmutzung gar nicht erst zu sprechen).

Auch wir ticken genau gleich - deshalb wird es wohl längerfristig zu einem Show-Down zwischen uns (dem Westen) und China kommen. Ich befürchte, dass die Chinesen dank unserer "Konsum-Entwicklungshilfe" (Stichwort: Made in China) der letzten 10-20 Jahre den längeren Schnauf haben werden:
erbärmlich, dass du dich so freuen kannst über den barrelpreis. und doch zahle ich lieber 3.-/liter benzin, als morgens in einen überfüllten drecks-sbb-zug zu sitzen.

Die Chinesen machen mit HTTP-Traffic genau dasselbe - kommt ein Paket an der staatlichen Firewall vorbei, das verbotene Wörter enthält (bspw. "Falun Gong" oder "Tiananmen"), wird ebenfalls ein Reset-Paket an den Computer des subversiven Surfers gesendet und der Web-Browser meldet einen Fehler beim Empfang der Web-Seite.
Bedenklich, wie ähnlich sich amerikanische Unternehmen und das kommunistische China langsam werden ...
