I have a friend who is an LSO on a carrier attack group that is planning and staging a strike group deployment into the Gulf of Hormuz. (LSO: Landing Signal Officer- she directs carrier aircraft while landing) She told me we are going to attack Iran. She said that all the Air Operation Planning and Asset Tasking are finished. That means that all the targets have been chosen, prioritized, and tasked to specific aircraft, bases, carriers, missile cruisers and so forth.

Reliabilität der Quellen
Die Frage ist natürlich, wie verlässlich Blogs und soziale Netzwerke als Quellen sind. Wir werden sehen. Jedenfalls vermag ich keinen Grund zu erkennen, wieso Massenmedien in solchen Angelegenheiten näher am Ball sind (oder in den USA: sein wollen). Die Informationen scheinen von Militärdienst leistenden Personen an der „Front“ zu stammen.
Zufälligerweise scheinen sich die Iraner und Amis abgesprochen zu haben – die kürzlich veröffentlichten Medienberichte rechtfertigen einen Angriff:

Mit dem angeblich kurz bevorstehenden Angriff auf den Iran erschliesst sich auch eine auffällige weil äusserst risikohafte „Wette“ im „Kasino“ des Kapitalismus:

Privatisiert die US Army!
Gemäss der neoliberalen Denkweise würden doch solche Betrugsfälle dann der Vergangenheit angehören:

Waffengang für nichts und wieder nichts
Today, the House passed H.R. 2929, Banning Permanent U.S. Bases in Iraq. This bill states that it is the policy of the United States not to establish any military installation or base for the purpose of providing a permanent stationing of United States Armed Forces in Iraq. It also states that it is the policy of the United States not to exercise U.S. control of the oil resources of Iraq.

Da verpulvert die letzte verbliebene Supermacht für ihren Waffengang im Irak hunderte Milliarden US-Dollars – und dann so was. Das ist, als würde ich nach Mekka pilgern, es dann aber nicht als nötig erachten, um die Kaaba herumzulaufen. Der einzig wahre Grund, wieso ein Land dieser Welt in Zeiten des drohenden Peak Oils derartige Summen aufwirft, sind die brachliegenden Ölfelder im Dreistromland.

Doch ganz so kaltblütig bleibt man als Soldat im Irak doch nicht – besonders dann, wenn man das zweite Mal eingezogen und erneut in das dem Bürgerkrieg nahe Land verfrachtet wird. Da ein Ende des Krieges nicht in Sicht ist, macht sich mittlerweile selbst bei George W. Bush’s eifrigsten Anhänger Skepsis breit:
“There was no pride left in his voice, just this robotic sense of despair,” she said, describing a telephone conversation with her son, Skyler, 24, an infantryman on his second tour of duty in Iraq. “Mom, we killed women on the street today. We killed kids on bikes. We had no choice,” she recounted his saying.
The same week, she said, her son told her he thought he had seen the worst when he had to pick up the body parts of his dead buddy, but then he saw an Iraqi boy picking up what was left of his dead father.

Was mit Kritik an der us-amerikanischen Armee beginnt, entpuppt sich als äusserst spannender Artikel, der weniger über das Kriegshandwerk als viel mehr über die kulturellen Probleme arabischer Armeen berichtet.
Wenn ein teilnehmender Offizier bei einer Vorlesung nur dann etwas gefragt werden darf, wenn er es auch weiss, erinnert mich das stark an japanisches Verhalten. Ziel ist es dabei, jemanden mit einem hohen Rang nicht vor der Gruppe blosszustellen (und blosstellen tut man sich in einem solchen Bildungssystem, wenn man anscheinend die Antwort auf eine Frage nicht weiss).
Leider, so zeigt De Atkine auf, führt dieses Verhalten zu einer äusserst unprofessionellen Armee, die im Ernstfall rasch ihren Zusammenhalt und somit ihre Schlagkraft verliert.

Appeasement-Politik gegenüber Teheran am Ende
Wenn es nach den Vordenker der Yankees geht (ich befürchte, dass ausser diesen Leuten drüben gar niemand mehr denkt), geht morgen bereits die Party im Iran los:
Bolton once again dredged up the old Iraq war-drum tactic of belittling anyone less bellicose. “I regret to say that to date the Europeans simply do not see the Iranian threat the way we do… At some point, somebody in Europe has to say, you know, we’ve been trying this for four years, we’ve tried this behavioral approach… and Iran’s behavior isn’t changed. After four years of failure, I think it’s time to call it quits.”
