Delicious Library ist die Vorzeige-Applikation für die Macintosh-Plattform – ich bin überzeugt, dass die zahlenmässig stark überlegenen Windows-Entwickler niemals so etwas zu Stande bringen würden. Die Ästhetik der Oberfläche, die Bedienbarkeit, das Ausnutzen einer Webcam, um Barcodes von Produkten einzulesen – all dies zeugt von solch grosser Kreativität, die kaum je eine Windows-Applikation mit sich bringt. Solche Programme machen mich als Mac-User glücklich und bestätigen mir, dass ich auf die richtige Plattform gesetzt habe.
Als Leser des Blogs von Wil Shipley, des CEOs und Chef-Entwicklers dieser Bude namens Delicious Monster (und ehemaligen Mitarbeiters der OminGroup), hat es mich gefreut, folgende kritischen Worte aus dem Munde eines richtigen Amis zu lesen:
Today, I complain about something that I really wanted to like, but cannot any more. My Palm Treo 650 phone. It is a cautionary tale, one from which we can all learn a lesson. Maybe not a lesson on the level of „don’t stuff the government with your idiot cronies and then be surprised when it doesn’t function when disaster strikes,“ but those kinds of lessons apparently need to be learned the hard way, again and again. (While I’m on the subject, Delicious Monster is donating our 2005 Q1 Amazon revenue to disaster relief, since, you know, the richest federal government in the world is congenitally incapable of doing anything that might be mistaken as „good,“ since all our money is busy being spent toppling nations.)
Mehr muss man da wohl auch nicht mehr beifügen … Shipley produziert nicht nur geniale Software, sondern hat auch eine pointierte Meinung zu den aktuellen Vorgängen in den Staaten.
