Apple on Tuesday announced that Macworld Conference & Expo 2009 will be the company’s last. The company also said Steve Jobs will not deliver his traditional keynote at the event this year.

Endlich werden HTML-Mails, die all die unbeirrbaren Office-Benutzer da draussen verfasst haben, mit anständiger Schriftgrösse dargestellt (vorher war es etwa Arial, 8pt):

Das Plugin eines Drittherstellers erlaubt es, AppleScript mit zusätzlicher Funktionalität auszurüsten. Für mich war die Cursor Suite von grossem Interesse, da ich damit seither in AppleScript auf einfachste Art und Weise die Position des Cursors abfragen kann.
Da das Plugin im Netz kaum mehr aufzufinden ist, biete ich es hier zum Download an (auf eigene Gefahr!):

Ein Mac-Benutzer spielt die Installation der Adobe Creative Suite 4 durch – und muss leider feststellen, dass die Software-Deppen aus San Jose auch im 26. Jahr ihres Bestehens einen anständigen Installer schlicht und einfach nicht hinkriegen:
Ah yes, of course. It is common knowledge that Safari is an Adobe application and that it cannot be running while Adobe is installing its new stuff. Besides, who on earth would want to read a few web pages while the Adobe CS4 installer is doing its thing in the background? It’ll only take half an hour! Might as well sit back and enjoy the show.

Und das nervt! Ressource Forks sind scheisse, nicht zuletzt, weil sie mit Unix Tools Probleme bereiten (bis diese umgeschrieben sind, wie bspw. rsync).
– File compression has been added to the HFS+ file system. […]
Developers who write disk utility programs may need to recognize these files exist, and some details about how they are implemented. In the st_flags field of the stat struct of a compressed file, bit SF_COMPRESSED will be set to indicate that the file is compressed. In addition to this bit, the compression information will be stored in invisible extended attributes “com.apple.decmpfs” and possibly the “com.apple.ResourceFork”. On a Tiger or Leopard system, these files will show up as zero length and have the indicated extended attributes. On Snow Leopard, the file’s length will show up as its uncompressed length and these extended attributes will be invisible to your software.

Wer es noch nicht gehört hat: Apple hat mittlerweile bereits 13 Millionen iPhones (1. und 2. Generation) verkauft. Wird langsam Zeit, dass ich mir auch eines zulege!
Was gibt es schöneres, als nun, im Zeichen des Triumphs, erneut auf eine Aussage vom 22. Januar 2007 zurückzukommen:
Consumers are not used to paying another couple hundred bucks more just because Apple makes a cool product. Some fans will buy [iPhone], but for the rest of us it’s a hard pill to swallow just to have the coolest thing.

Steve Jobs? Jonathin Ive? Falsch. Merkt euch den Namen Edy Cue:
Eddy’s name isn’t familiar to most apple people, but he’s in his way as important to apple’s success as Jonathan Ives. His specialty: the back-end infrastructures that make Apple’s online universe tick. His groups did the Apple online store, iTools (later .Mac), iTunes store, etc, etc. It’s the not-sexy part of the company, but it’s the guts that make all of the sexy front ends actually work.
